3 day week, Job Seeker Allowance

Dec 10th, 2009, 10:36 am

Hi,

I have a query, I registered yesterday with Social Welfare as I was put on a 3 day week at work. The form I completed was titled job seekers allowance, it was also referred to as Casual Work. The officer advised me the payment will be half of the dole which yesterday was 204.00 and my entitlement would be 102.00. Has this figure been reduced today to something like 100.00 for dole and I now get half of that. Please advise. Thanking you in advance

Regards,

Amanda!

Job seekers allowance has been cut depending on the applicant’s age.  These cuts only appear to apply to new claimants after 30 December 2009.  The €100 figure you mention refers to jobseekers allowance for new claimants who are aged between 20 and 21.

Outside of the changes for new claimants, the job seekers allowance has been cut to €196 from €204.  On the basis that you have been told you qualify for half, you should be entitled to €98.
