Hi Newstalk
I think I heard the Minister say that if a person retired next year their pension would not be affected by the cuts in pay.
My situation is as follows.
1. I am a public servant who has applied for and been granted the V.E.R. that was on offer last year. However my date of retirement has been deferred until the end of November 2010.
2. If I wait until this date next year will my pension and lump sum be based on my current salary or the reduced value that would apply next November.
Regards Pat Sheridan
The Minister has indicated that anyone who retires in 2010 will not have their pension entitlements impacted by yesterday’s pay cuts. On this basis, you pension entitlements will be based on your current salary.
