Project Sensecam Results

Dec 11th, 2010, 4:53 pm

We’ll be speaking to Professor Alan Smeaton from the Clarity Centre for Sensor Web Technologies in DCU tonight about the results of our sensecam experiment.  For the past week, Jonathan has been wearing a Sensecam – a device that takes thousands of pictures a day from the point of view of the wearer.  The photos have multiple applications – ethnology, marketing and sales research and as a powerful memory aid as demonstrated on BBC2′s Eyewitness (watch the video below).

Below are some of the graphs and data we will be discussing tonight:

Jonathan gathered 6,699 SenseCam images between 23:54 on Saturday the 4th and 22:47 on Monday the 6th. These were segmented into 43 events, with an average event duration of 37 minutes (shortest of 4min, longest of 2h 46min). In total 27h 15min of Jonathan’s life were captured.

Here are a few of the images captured from during the week:

The predominant colours of Jonathan’s week are shown below, as we can see a lot of dark colours!
