Cork town saves the day – after wedding party soaked

Apr 13th, 2011, 10:40 am

A town in Co. Cork came to the rescue of a newlywed couple after they took a sudden plunge after tying the knot.

Mike Hickey and his bride Yvonne O’Leary with their bridal party were posing for photographs on a footbridge at the Jameson Heritage Centre in Midleton when disaster struck.

They heard a crack and the bridge they were standing on collapsed and they all ended up in the water.

However a nearby bridal boutique saved the day by fitting Yvonne out with a new dress for free of charge.

Ger McCarthy was the photographer on the day.

He has been speaking to Breakfast here on Newstalk.
