The latest edition of the Chambers Dictionary in Britain has added 1,000 new definitions including 'frape', 'YOLO', 'milf', 'boyf' and 'totes amazeballs'.

The latest additions are sure to raise the eyebrows of many linguists but have been included to represent the ever developing and expanding language of modern day society.

'Totes amazeballs' is in particular the most interesting add-on. It is a phrase that was made popular by Charlatan's singer Tim Burgess and simply means 'totally amazing'.

'Frape' was a term coined during the Facebook boom and popularised by various social media users.

It has now also been defined in the Chambers Dictionary as a term for altering the personal details of someone on a social media site without the owner’s knowledge.

Similarly, YOLO (you only live once) and 'boyf' is simply an abbreviation of the word boyfriend.

However, the Chambers Dictionary is not the only one to embrace these new words popularised by social media.

Merriam-Webster also added more than 150 new words and definitions to their dictionary back in May including 'hashtag', 'selfie' and 'tweep'.
