My wife earns 70K as a soical work team leader with the HSE. I earn the same amount in the private sector. We have two children ( 3.5 years, and 1 year old ) How are we impacted by todays budget? Is the pre-school supplement which comes into effect next year still available?

As there have been no changes to the income tax rates, private sector take-home pay will be unchanged.
 
Public sector pay cuts will be implemented on a progressive basis for salaries under €125,000.  A gross salary of €70,000 will be reduced to €65,500.  This should result in an after tax reduction of approximately €43 per week in your joint take home pay.
 
Child benefit has been cut by €16 per child, so you will receive €150 per month for the first and second child.
