The Labour party wants the Taoiseach to make a statement on the extent of the close links between Fianna Fail politicians and top bankers.

It follows last night’s Prime Time programme which showed how senior political figures were given fast-tracked loans from Irish Nationwide.

Labour’s Joan Burton wants to know the full extent of the connections between Fianna Fail and the country’s top bankers.

“I think it is important for Fianna Fail and for the Taoieach, as the leader of  Fianna Fail, to clarify whether these arrangements were confined to a small group of people – or whether they were more general for a significant number of people in the Fianna Fail party” she said.
