Limerick and Shannon on high alert
Limerick City and areas surrounding the Shannon Estuary are on high alert tonight
Residents of ‘Shannon Banks’ on the outskirts of Limerick City have been evacuated by bus as flood waters continue to rise in the estate.
The Army distributed thousands of sandbags to affected areas along the River Shannon after it burst its banks
The ESB was forced to release extra water at the Parteen Weir to alleviate pressure at Ardnacrusha
While no further water will be discharged tonight – the area remains at risk
