The list of words and phrases which are deemed inappropriate for use in the Dail is to be updated.

It follows an outburst by Green TD Paul Gogarty who launched a foul mouthed attack  in reference to the Labour party TD Emmet Stagg last week.

However under the rules of the Dail the ‘F-Word’ is not banned.

The Committee on Procedures and Privileges has agreed to update the list of banned phrases.

The committee will also examine changes to the rules of the house to allow for members who engage in unparliamentary behaviour to be suspended.
