A man’s appeared in court charged in connection with an attack in Galway, that’s left a man fighting for his life in hospital.

The 23 year old appeared before Galway District Court today charged with assault.

The 27 year old victim suffered head and facial injuries in the attack near Dominic Street in the City just before half past three yesterday morning.

He was rushed to hospital in Galway but was later transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, where he remains in a critical condition.

A 23 year old man, Dean O’ Brien with an address on Bishop O’ Donnell road in the City was arrested yesterday in connection with the attack.

He was brought before Galway District Court today, charged with assault causing harm.

He’s been remanded in custody to appear back in court again next Monday.
