A 19 year-old man has been charged with murdering Daniel Fitzgerald in Limerick a week ago.

The 24-year-old carpenter was shot a number of times outside a house in the Ballysimon area last Tuesday night.

At a special sitting of Limerick District Court last night Kenneth Collopy of Killonan, Ballysimon in Limerick made no reply when charged with murder.

He was remanded in custody and is due to appear in court again on Thursday.
