The trial of a father of two accused of raping his friend’s nine-year-old daughter has collapsed due to witness difficulties.

The 62-year-old father of two, who can not be named for legal reasons, denied two counts of rape, one count of oral rape and one count of sexual assault on dates in 1993.

The accused has been remanded until Monday when a new jury will be sworn in at the Central Criminal Court.
