Chris D just posted the details on the drink driving row at the Fianna Fail parliamentary party meeting last night. When we covered the issue yesterday, listeners were commenting on the rights and wrongs of tampering with the legal limit, but today the tone of the debate completely changed.

We had text after text wondering how it could be that the TDs were up in arms about this issue and not about cutbacks in public services. There seemed to be an overriding sense that this row was indicative of what backbenchers are concerned about and our listeners weren’t happy.

In other important news, a massive drop landed on my head as I exited a taxi just now. It was a small price to pay to escape though. The driver asked me who was the most famous person that I had ever met and responded to my lame answer (George Foreman and Meatloaf) with a list of his own which included Kylie Minogue, Simon Cowell and Mike Tyson.
