Derry players deny any knowledge of “secondary” contracts…
The Derry City players have released a hard hitting statement, insisting they had no knowledge of any secondary contracts being signed, and claiming they had been duped into completing such paperwork.
Players statement:
‘With only one exception, no player knowingly signed a second document. It now appears that, what the club had misrepresented to us as a blank registration form containing no figures, terms or conditions was, in fact, a second document upon which different figures were subsequently entered and lodged with the league”
The FAI have confirmed that they, as of last night, are accepting the version of events put forward by the players, and are now planning talks with the club tomorrow, with a view to it being readmitted to the league, most likely in the first division.
4 members of the Derry Board, including chairman Pat McDaid have now resigned…
