George in Sligo

George travelled to Sligo this week to find out more about the depestrianisation of O’Connell St. The street was pedestrianised three years ago but the council has now decided to reopen the street to traffic. All but one councillor voted in favour of it being reopened to traffic. This is despite the fact that they have received several petitions, one of which included 2,560 signatures from locals protesting against the move. At lunchtime, George joined protestors on the busy shopping street to lend his support.
