The establishment of NAMA will move a step closer tonight.
TD’s will pass the Committee stage of the legislation in the Dáil in the early hours of tomorrow morning.
They’re currently arguing over accountability of the agency, and what information will be revealed in public.
Former Labour leader Pat Rabbitte’s told the debate that in the future, those running NAMA should not be gagged if brought before the Public Accounts Committee.
“We wouldn’t be here at all with this legislation if the Department of Finance, the Central Bank and the Regulator did their job” he said.
The Labour leader continued “There’s no point blaming Lehman Brothers, no point even blaming the Lenihan brothers- somebody sat back and watched a small bank grow and grow…until it threatened the whole banking system”.
