Riverdance lawsuit ends suddenly

Nov 10th, 2009, 1:42 pm

A High Court row over the costumes used in Riverdance has come to an abrupt end.

A fashion designer involved in the international music and dance spectacle has, withdrawn his case in which he climed he hadn’t been given due credit for his work.

Fashion designer Jen Kelly claimed he had been “airbrushed out of the history” of the runaway success that was Riverdance.

The 49 year old sued John Mccolgan and Moya Doherty’s Abhann Productions along with  Tyrone productions for over €800,000 in damages.

He alleged  he’d not been given proper credit for his work and that his designs had been used and altered without his permission.

The Dublin-based designer said the defendents breached an agreement not to use his designs after 2001.

A claim that his legal team withdrew after behind the scenes negotiations between the two sides – bringing this case, which started last week, to an abrupt end.
