Traffic easing after M50 incident

Nov 13th, 2009, 4:33 pm

All lanes on the M50 in Dublin have reopened following an earlier accident – which closed part of the road.

A lorry overturned on the southbound carriageway between the Finglas and Blanchardstown exits at 12.30 – trapping the driver.

Diversions have been lifted – and the HGV cordon in Dublin city centre has been reinstated.

Aoife Carragher from AA Roadwatch says the traffic delays are easing.

“We’ve seen a great improvement on the M50…things seem to be moving a lot better, it’s just busy around J5 Finglas” she said.

“Traffic is still busy through the city centre; the HGV cordon was lifted for a lot of the afternoon as an alternative…so a lot of people were diverting that way”.

“We’re still seeing some busy traffic on the Swords Road, and also coming i from the N2 a well – and that’s affecting Constitution Hill and Church Street” she added.
