A Donegal woman mistreated by gardai while detained as part of the investigation into the death of cattle dealer Richie Barron, has settled a legal action for damages for an undisclosed sum.
Katrina Brolly was named in the Morris Report which found that members of the force attempted to frame Frank McBrearty Jnr and his cousin Mark McConnell for the killing in October 1996.
The tribunal found his death was caused by a hit and run accident.
Her solicitor, Ken Smyth, said “It’s been 13 years. Catriona was vindicated in the Morris Tribunal; vindicated extremely comprehensively in the Morris Tribunal”.
“This has taken its bit of time. There’s been an excellent outcome – we’re delighted with it”.
“It’s a confidential settlement, we obviously can’t disclose it – but you can take it we’re very happy with it” he added
