A teenage boy and his baby sister were abducted by a car thief then abandoned on the side of a busy road.
The mother of the children had been paying for petrol at a filling station in Warrenpoint in Co. Down when her BMW was stolen.
A man in his 20s drove off with her 14-year-old son and daughter aged just 7 months.
The children were later found unharmed and brought back to the petrol station by a passing motorist.
The stolen car was later found in the Dundalk area.
Warrenpoint councillor Michael Carr says it is unbelievable the children were not seriously hurt.
