Irish trio look to tame the "Blue Monster"

The second of the season’s World Golf Championships get underway at Doral in Florida later today, with Ireland’s top three players all involved.

Padraig Harrington, Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell are all chasing the top prize of just over one million euro, with McIlroy off first just before 5 o’clock, he plays alongside multiple major winners Phil Mickelson and Retief Goosen.

Harrington will accompany World Matchplay Champion Ian Poulter and Geoff Ogilvy, while McDowell will spend the first two days with Anthony Kim and Masters Champion Angel Cabrera.

Over one third of the field is European, although world number 2 Phil Mickelson is the defending champion.
