Galway United beat defending champions Bohemians by three goals to two after a controversial to their Airtricity League Premier Division clash at Dalymount Park. Karl Sheppard scored a brace for Galway, but goals from Raffael Cretaro and Jason Byrne appeared to have sealed a share of the spoils for Bohs. However, Stephen O’Donnell scored a late winning penalty for Galway, but was then shown a red card after the full-time whistle. Bohs finished the game with just nine men after Ken Oman and Cretaro were both sent-off in injury time. Elsewhere, leaders Dundalk were beaten 2-1 by Sporting Fingal, who have now gone top of the table and Shamrock Rovers were 2-0 winners over Drogheda United after second-half goals from Robert Bayly and Gary Twigg. In the First Division, Waterford United’s 100 per cent start to the season is over after a 1-0 defeat at Monaghan United. And Shelbourne scored a late equaliser to snatch a one-all draw with Cork City Foras Co-op.
