Bayern hold edge over Lyon

Apr 21st, 2010, 10:20 pm

Bayern Munich hold a 1-0 lead after the first-leg of their Champions League semi-final against Lyon. Arjen Robben’s deflected second-half strike was one of the few highlights from a disappointing game at the Allianz Arena. Bayern’s star winger Franck Ribery will miss the return leg in France after he was shown a straight red card for a vicious challenge in the closing stages of the first-half. But Lyon also finished with just ten men after Jeremy Toulalan picked-up two yellow cards in the space of five minutes shortly after the restart. Bayern enjoyed the better of a game but they were only rewarded with a slender advantage to take with them to the Stade Gerland next Tuesday. It was Robben who stole the headlines once again, following his deciding goal in the quarter-final against Manchester United, with a deflected shot to put Bayern marginally ahead in a finely poised tie.
