Consumers buying cheaper supermarket products, says group

Feb 23rd, 2010, 9:46 am

Price conscious Irish consumers are choosing cheaper private label products from supermarket chains, according to one food group.

Customers are going for cheaper names over some of Ireland’s best known food brands.

Kerry Group said the trend was partly responsible for a 6% drop in revenues at its consumer foods division.

The division produces brands ranging from Denny sausages to Low Low cheese.
