There was a 5% increase in personal injury claims last year.

Injuriesboard.ie dealt with 8,645 claims and awarded €200 million in compensation.

Three quarters of awards were for injuries in road traffic accidents – the rest was split between workplace and public space accidents.

Workplace accidents fell by over 6% because less people are in employment.

The organisation says it has yet to see an increase in claims arising from the recent cold snap.
