Insurers pay big after bad weather

Feb 25th, 2010, 12:18 pm

Over half a billion euro has been paid out by insurance companies during the recent flooding and freezing weather.

That’s according to the Irish Industry Federation – which paid out €244 million to customers affected by the flooding in November last year, and €297 million during the big freeze in January.

Over 8,500 claims were handled during the floods over a three week period, with the greatest number of claims in Cork.
