Jun 22nd, 2010, 9:33 am

A new crystal manufacturing facility is opening in Waterford.

Over 110 people will be employed at “The House of Waterford Crystal” with up to 40 others at peak times.

The venture is the result of an agreement between the owner of Waterford Crystal, Wedgewood and Royal Doulton brands and Waterford City Council.

Chief Financial Officer with the company Anthony Jones says it is a great day for Waterford.

“Today after 6 months of really intense effort on behalf of a lot of people, we’re opening our brand new facility ‘THe House of Waterford Crystal’ in the heart of Waterford city” he said.

“The facility will be open 7 days a week from 8am to 6pm and visitors from all over the world will be able to see all of our manufacturing techniques – right the way from the formation of the mould and the blowing of the crystal right the way through to the finishing area” he added.
