Club delegates in Limerick last night rejected the prospect of a professional mediator being brought in to resolve the hurling crisis in the Treaty County.
At a meeting of the county board, chairman Liam Lenihan broached the subject of an independent mediator. However many delegates pointed out the players previous opposition to a similar intervention from Croke Park, insisting there was no reason to believe there stance would change.
As their frustration grew, delegates demanded an end to the divisive issue, either through a change of manager or a show of support for Justin McCarthy.
However, if clubs want to propose a change of management, it will have to be done in writing and considered by a special meeting.
Limerick have lost their opening two league games under Justin McCarthy as 24 of year’s panel refuse to return under his stewardship.
