The worst of the cold snap is continuing to sweep across the Country.
Temperatures once again plumetted last night with at least five centimetres of snow falling along the East Coast.
Forecasters expect 10 centimetres of snow to fall across Leinster today.
Road conditions are once again dangerous this morning with Counties Dublin, Meath, Wicklow, Wexford, Offaly, Kildare and Laois the worst affected.
However travel services have not yet fallen foul of the weather.
Dublin airport remains open, yesterday it had to close for a time to clear snow from the runway.
Bus Eireann is operating a full service although there’s some disruption in the North East.
The Transport Minister Noel Dempsey has returned from his holidays and will attend a meeting of the Government’s emergency response committee later.
He’s come under fire from the Opposition all week for not being here to help co-ordinate a plan for the Country, in the grip of this cold snap.
The Defense Forces say they remain on stand-by and at the moment they have over 100 personnel deployed to help grit roads, assist nurses and deliver fodder to animals.
