Simon Cowell says Noel Gallagher can take over his judging seat on American Idol – but only if US viewers can understand his Manchester accent.

Cowell was asked about who’ll replace him when he leaves the talent show to launch the American version of The X Factor later this year.

The music mogul said the ex-Oasis singer was a possibility, because he’s very funny and a brilliant songwriter.
