The controversial 30 kilometre speed limit in the centre of Dublin city will remain in place until July.

An effort to have it ammended to allow for public consultation was defeated at a meeting of Dublin City Council last night.

The Labour Party motion to have the limit withdrawn was carried- but not by a sufficient margin to change Council policy.
