US comedy ‘Glee’ was the big winner at the Emmy Awards last night.

The programme won 3 awards at the 62nd Emmys in Los Angeles including one for Jane Lynch who plays Sue Sylvester.

‘Mad Men’ picked up best drama series while ‘Big Bang Theory’ got an award for Best Actor.

Entertainment Reporter Alan Silverman is in Hollywood following the biggest night for the small screen productions.

“The big winners are the top series winners (which) went to ‘Modern Family’ – a brand new series” he said.

“It’s an innovative programme because it’s showing a different kind of family and it’s excellent writing, and it won the Best Comedy Series”.

“It beat several favourites including ’30 Rock’ which has been the perennial winner – (and) also ‘Glee’ which went into the Emmys with the most nominations” he added.
