Another movie star is finding his attempt at a British accent under close scrutiny.
Russell Crowe has already been criticised this week for his stab at Robin Hood’s East Midlands accent.
Now attention is switching to Jake Gyllenhaal’s slightly better effort in Prince of Persia.
He says he had to work extremely hard on it.
“I knew it’d be scrutinised, I knew people were going to make fun of me” he said.
“Mike would say to me – Mike Newell the director – would say to me every morning before rehearsal ‘Don’t worry darling, just say your (lines), just do whatever, just say it and don’t worry about it – be confident” he added, in a British accent.
