Helena Bonham Carter is to star in a film bringing to life food writer Nigel Slater’s celebrated memoir ‘Toast’.
The actress will play Slater’s step-mother in the nostalgic drama for BBC1 – which traces the writer’s journey to adulthood through evocative tastes and smells.
The 60s-set adaptation will see Slater played by child star Freddie Highmore, from ‘Charlie And The Chocolate Factory’.
Best-seller ‘Toast’ has sold more than a quarter of a million copies.
