The leadership of Fine Gael will today assess the damage from the resignation of George Lee.
The now former Dublin South TD rocked the political world yesterday when he bowed out after just eight months in the job.
Party leader Enda Kenny will this morning host a meeting of his front bench.
They’re already trying to deal with the negative public impact with many saying George Lee should have realised he needed to serve more than a nine month apprenticeship.
At least one senior front bencher Leo Varadkar says yesterday was a bad day for Enda Kenny, but that they must unite now.
But George Lee’s revelations that murmurings about Enda Kenny’s leadership have been increasing in recent times will cause concern.
If any senior member of the party is getting ready to move against Enda Kenny they know that this is an opportunity that may not present itself again before an election.
