A Fianna Fáil TD says that the Green party seem to be ‘getting their way’ on certain pieces of legislation and other more important issues are getting pushed aside.
It is after the controversial legislation on the Government’s Wildlife Bill was passed in the Dáil last night.
Tipperary TD Mattie McGrath has been expelled from the Fianna Fáil parliamentary party after abstaining in a vote on the bill.
While Cork TD Christy O’Sullivan also has to explain himself after he abstained from 1 vote but later sided with the Government.
Speaking to Breakfast here on Newstalk this morning Fianna Fail TD for Carlow-Kilkenny John McGuinness admitted there is unease within the party that such debate is taking centre stage.
He says that because of this more important issues are getting pushed aside.
“They are certainly, as a 2% party, getting their way when perhaps they should not” he said.
“They have certainly captured centre-stage in relation to some of these pieces of legislation, when other issues are far more important in relation to the economy” he added.
