Fire breaks out at Tallaght Hospital

Jul 27th, 2010, 1:11 pm

Patients are being asked not to attend the Adelaide and Meath Hospital in Tallaght in Dublin this afternoon following a fire in the kitchen there.

No patients were hurt but a contractor is being treated at the hospital for his injuries.

Appointments for this afternoon have been deferred.

The call came in at 11.40am this morning.

Six pumps from the Dublin Fire Brigade attended the scene.

In a statement the hospital said there were no patients in the area at the time and all staff were successfully evacuated.

The Internal Emergency Response Plan was activated, the hospital added.

The HSE have been advised and ambulances are being diverted to other hospitals.
