This season’s preliminary competitions finally got underway over the weekend.
Yesterday there were wins in the McGrath Cup for Kerry, Tipperary, Cork IT and UCC, while in the O’Byrne Cup Dublin, Meath, Kildare, Offaly and Louth all got their season’s off to a winning start.
Mayo and Galway collected wins in the FBD League, while in the McKenna Cup Fermanagh, Tyrone and Antrim all registered victories.
In hurling Waterford and Clare enjoyed wins in the Waterford Crystal Cup, although Cork were turned over by UCC.
