Gardai in Cork have released without charge a man arrested for questioning about the murder of a 57 year old woman in Midleton at the weekend.
The 46 year old man was arrested on Monday afternoon and questioned about the murder of separated mother of three, Catherine Smart.
He was released without charge just before midnight – a file is to be sent to the DPP.
Catherine Smart’s body was found in her terraced house on Easter Sunday morning.
A post mortem examination revealed she died from injuries resulting from a blow to the back of the head.
