The average hotel room rate in Ireland has fallen by 21 per cent.

Prices dropped to 80 euro last year, the steepest decline in any Western European country in 2009.

It makes Irish hotels the fourth cheapest in Europe, behind the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland.
