A 22 year old man has died and another man is in a critical condition in hospital following a car crash in Co. Kildare.

The single vehicle accident happened on M9 Carlow Dublin Road just before three o’ clock this morning.

One of occupants of the car, a 22 year old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another man, who’s understood to be 21, was rushed to Naas General Hospital, where his condition is believed to be critical.

A 30 year old woman was also injured in the crash – she’s said to be in a serious condition in hospital this afternoon.

The stretch of road between Ballytore and Castledermot, where the accident happened, has now re-opened to traffic.
