Pakistan is investigating whether a Pakistani-American arrested over the failed car bomb attack in New York’s Times Square had met members of the Taliban.

The US has asked Pakistani authorities to verify whether the suspect had travelled to a militant stronghold near the Afghan border late last year.

The Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for the attempted car bomb attack, but a spokesman for the militants denied the links.
