Portsmouth’s players have finally received December’s salary, the club have confirmed. The Barclays Premier League club obtained funds this morning and paid the cash straight into the players’ bank accounts. A spokesman for the club that the players have now been paid and the confirmation followed chief executive Peter Storrie’s pledge, earlier today, that the issue was on the brink of being resolved. The spokesperson said: “We are pleased to say the players have now been paid.” Storrie had earlier said: “As far as I am aware everything is going through to their accounts today. Payment should be there, I am pleased to say. Obviously it is not the best scenario in the world to have this situation happening but obviously finance is a major problem in world market at the moment. The owners are trying everything they can and they have obviously managed to find this in the last couple of days. I am told funds were received this morning so therefore it’s a question of the process and however long that takes to go through but I’m told it should all happen today.”
