PSNI officer remains critical following attack

A Catholic PSNI officer remains in a critical but stable condition this morning following an attack in Co. Antrim.

33 year old Peadar Heffron who is the captain of the PSNI’s GAA team was injured when a device exploded under his car as he drove to work yesterday morning.

Meanwhile, Gardai are continuing to question three men arrested as part of an investigation into the activities of dissident republicans.

The three, aged 38, 39 and 44, were arrested following a massive garda operation in Belturbet in Co. Cavan yesterday.

They’re being held for questioning at Ballyconnell and Cavan Garda Stations, under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
