The Financial Regulator may ask Gardai and the Director of Corporate Enforcement to investigate alleged breaches of Insurance rules and company law at Quinn Insurance
The Regulator has been examining breaches of the solvency rules as well as the conduct of certain individuals in failing to disclose them and systems’ failures at the company.
According to today’s Irish Times he may ask Gardai to instigate a criminal investigation.
The move comes as Anglo Irish Bank proposes to invest 700 million euro in the Quinn Group.
If the plan can be agreed, the state-owned bank would become a majority shareholder in Quinn Group of companies.
