Gardai are investigating two separate road crashes which claimed the lives of a man and a woman overnight.

A 73 year old woman died following a two car collision at Rathgory in Ardee in County Louth shortly before midnight last night.

While a 63 year old male pedestrian died after being struck by a car at Elphin in Roscommon after 3 o’clock this morning.
