Wolfhounds savage Scots

Feb 5th, 2010, 9:31 pm

Tries from Chris Henry, Isaac Boss, Johne Murphy and a brace from Fergus McFadden gave the Ireland Wolfhounds a convincing 34 points to 19 win over Scotland A at Ravenhill. Man-of-the-match, Henry barged over the try-line in the very early stages after good work from Tony Buckley. Out-half, Ian Humphreys converted and then added a penalty before he was instrumental in setting-up McFadden for the second-try just after the half-hour mark. Devin Toner’s sin-binning at the start of the second-half allowed Scotland A to pull one try back. However, McFadden then grabbed his second after a brilliant counter-attack from full-back, Gavin Duffy. The visitors scored another try shortly after the hour mark as the game opened-up, but Boss effectively sealed the result when finished-off from Johne Murphy’s break down the right wing. The Scots got back to within ten points with a penalty try, but Murphy dived over in the corner in virtually the last play of the game to wrap-up an impressive performance.
