Gardai are examining a section of the N3 in Co Cavan where a woman in her 60′s died yesterday.

The woman had stopped her car on the hard shoulder of the road at Aghalane near Belturbet.

It’s believed she got out of the car and walked in front of it to take a phone call.

The car rolled forward and collided with the woman.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road remains closed off this morning as a technical examination is carried out.
