'Found In A Skip' – Paper publishes Gerry Ryan letters

The Mirror newspaper has defended its actions after publishing personal papers belonging to the late, Gerry Ryan, which, it says, were thrown in a skip.

The paper’s showbiz editor has told Newstalk the documents were handed in to his office.

The items published include a birthday card from Mr Ryan’s children and a love note from his partner, Melanie.

Paul Martin from the Mirror said he was unable to speak to Mr Ryan’s girlfriend before making the documents public but the Ryan family were aware of the story.

He added the papers may have been thrown out in error as Mr Ryan’s estranged wife, Morah, and a team of helpers were sorting his belongings.
