Haiti – In Pictures & Audio

Feb 2nd, 2010, 8:30 am

The clean-up from the January 12th earthquake in Haiti continues three-weeks from the devestating event.

Haiti - Clean up

Newstalk’s Jonathan Healy has taken over our coverage from Port-Au-Prince and reports, “It’s three weeks to the day since the earthquake killed at least 200,000, injured many more and left one-million homeless. They’re now sleeping in parks and streets all around me.”

Haiti - Orphans

On the massive aid effort to help survivors Jonathan says,  “The work to clear the rubble has been picking up pace, but as it does more bodies are constantly being found. It’s a painful reminder to those trying to pick up own their lives nearby. “

IN AUDIO:

1) The priorities three-weeks on – Jonathan Healy tells Newstalk Breakfast of the problem areas still needing attention.

2) Who is in charge? – Chairman of Digicel and Communicorp, Denis O’Brien, tells Newstalk of the Clinton Global Fund’s drive to have a central agency controlling the effort of hundreds of aid agencies and the battered Haitian government.

3) Protecting Orphans – Jonathan Healy tells Newstalk Breakfast of the 33 arrests following attempts to take Haitian orphans from the country.
